FOOD BANK

At Parachutes for Pets, we believe no one should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pet. Our Pet Food Bank offers a hand up to pet owners experiencing financial hardship, helping families stay together through tough times.

Through Harley’s Hampers, community members can access pet food support directly through our Advocacy Centers, as well as through Mobile Pop-Up Pet Food Banks hosted in partnership with community organizations across Alberta.

Our Mobile Pop-Up Pet Food Banks allow us to bring pet food and supplies directly into communities for scheduled distribution events in collaboration with schools, housing programs, outreach teams, nonprofits, and other local partners.

Please note: we do not provide individual home delivery of pet food. Individuals looking for pet food support can complete the Pet Food Bank Request Form and attend pickup during our open hours or at a scheduled community pop-up event.

This program is lovingly named Harley’s Hampers, in honour of our founder’s beloved dog, Harley, whose legacy continues to help pets in need.

Program Guidelines

  • Food hampers are available once every two months.

  • Assistance is limited to a maximum of two pets per household. This limit applies per household, not per individual. Households with multiple adults are not eligible for additional hampers.

  • We cannot guarantee specific brands, flavours, etc

  • Food is provided on a first come, first served basis. We are unable to hold or reserve food.

  • Cat litter assistance is available once per year.

Program Eligibility

Our Pet Food Bank is intended to provide temporary assistance to existing pet owners experiencing financial hardship.

To encourage responsible pet ownership and ensure our limited resources are available to those who needs them most, assistance is not available for newly acquired pets, new litters, or individual breeding animals. Eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis, and additional information may be requested as part of your application.

Accessing the Program

Once you have submitted your Pet Food Bank application, you will only be contacted if additional information is required or if your application is not approved.

If you do not hear from us, your application has been approved. You may visit our Pet Food Bank during regular business hours beginning one business day after submitting your application.

Please note that applications are not processed immediately, and we are unable to accomodate same-day requests.
